SPANISH SUPER CUP

TOURNAMENT DATE:
JANUARY 2021

VENUE:
SAUDI ARABIA

The Spanish Football Federation awarded Saudi Arabia hosting rights for a redesigned Spanish Super Cup starting in January 2020 until 2022.

Traditionally the contest pitted the champions of Spain’s top flight La Liga, against the winners of knockout tournament, Copa del Rey. The reengineered edition of the Spanish Super Cup now involves four clubs, last time out Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Valencia, with Real lifting the trophy in Jeddah.

Spanish football’s governing body will earn US$131 million from the deal and reinvest this total in the country’s amateur game.

Expat Sport offers soccer fans the chance to watch the galácticos of Spanish football in action in next year’s tournament.
